Mr.
Robert Summers -Executive Biography
nanoCom founder and President, Bob Summers, has worked in the development of
Internet communication software since 1992 and is considered a leading
videoconferencing technology expert. Summers has over 15 years of work
experience in the areas of software development. His work experience includes
consulting, software design and implementation, author and speaker. Bob has a
MBA from MIT Sloan (Fellow), executive business training from Harvard Business
school and a Computer Engineering degree from Virginia Tech.
Summers first book, Official NetMeeting Book was published by
Microsoft Press in 1998. His latest published works include the Mighty Words
online book, No Walls, No Limits and a cover story entitled
Unleash Conferencing Server for Exchange and Outlook Magazine.
Summers continues to write and give speeches in his spare time.
The year after publishing his first book, Summers newly founded company
nanoCom Corporation began to take shape. nanoCom Corporation, incorporated in
February 1999 and headquartered in Blacksburg, Virginia is a leading world-wide
provider of consumer desktop videoconferencing software. Before starting
nanoCom at 27, Summers already had a successful career in the software
industry.
Mr. Summers has worked both as a software consultant and developer with
corporation, local, state and federal governments and commercial organizations
such as: The Australian Navy, British Aerospace, Defense Mapping Agency,
Department of Commerce, Federal Aviation Administration, First Union, McDonald
Douglas, United States Air Force, United States Navy and Virginia Department of
Transportation among others. Summers most recent awards include being
named in the 'Top 20 under 40' by Blue Ridge Business Journal and the
'Young Entrepreneur of the Year' by the Montgomery County Chamber of
Commerce. He also plays an active role in regional technology based
economic development and has been elected to the Board of Directors for the
Virginia Economic Bridge and the New Century Technology Council.
