Blacksburg, VA June 19, 2004 nanoComs Founder and CEO Bob Summers plays an active role in the economic development for the Southwestern Virginia region, and in return has been recognized for his service. Mr. Summers has recently been elected to the Board of Directors for both, the New Century Technology Council and the Virginia Economic Bridge. He also won the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce Young Entrepreneur of the Year for 2002, was voted in the Top 20 Under 40 by the Blue Ridge Business Journal in 2002 and was a finalist for the New Century Technology Council High Tech Entrepreneur Award in 2003 and 2004.
The mission of the New Century Technology Council is to advance the economic vitality of Southwest Virginia by growing the high technology industry. The Virginia Economic Bridge has similar goals of connecting the technology workforces between Northern Virginia and Southwestern Virginia to further economic vitality. Summers election to both boards gives him an opportunity to work towards these goals, and serve as a voice for the Southwestern Virginia region.
